The Fishers Dentist - A WordPress Site

The Fishers Dentist

The Fishers Dentist is a WordPress site I set up for BlodgetTech. I actually do a lot of dentist and doctor sites for them. More and more are going over to WordPress so I have had to learn a lot about WordPress in a relatively short amount of time.

In this particular case I had to modify the sidebar area to show only the pages the site has (excluding certain pages that of course nobody should be able to go directly to). I also had to put a contact form in the sidebar as you can see. In the code samples page I have some examples of php code from a testimonials system I developed for these types of clients for BlodgetTech. Initially I had developed that testimonial system for a different web template that I had come up with but when we started going over to WordPress I had to modify it to work with WordPress and to work within the confines of the templates we had chosen to use for our clients.

Root Canal Aventura - A WordPress Site

This is another dentist site I did for BlodgetTech. This one they wanted to use a different template than the previous one so I had to some modifications to the template. One thing I had to do was to put the contact form on the right side bar. Also, however, the original template always had a normal blog "leave a comment" section below anything that was on any of the pages. This wouldn't do because this was not a blog site, it was a business site. There was a problem though. The original template had used css and images to draw a box around that particular section so simply removing the code for the leave a comment section produced a blank box. Because of the way things were done in the template it was a little bit tricky getting it figured out.

Voodoo Special Effects Studio Main Page

This is a work in progress. I have a friend that has his own special effects makeup studio. He's pretty good. Well, a while back he had a friend make the header image you see on the site and he asked if I could build a website around that header. I first had to figure out what font was being used in the header image.

The next thing I did was sit down with pen and paper and sketch out several different ideas. One of the things I did was to write down what all I wanted the site to do, what I would like the site to do if I could find the time, and then I made a list of things that would be neat but probably wouldn't be done for a while. I then actually drew boxes on paper until I came up with a format that I thought would work the best and look the best (at least for now) for what his business is and what data he had given me which was mainly pictures.

The three pictures you see at the bottom of the web page are actually supposed to be very random. At the moment I only have four images actually uploaded to the site so sometimes an image gets repeated there in that bar. I call that bar his project bar and it is intended to show off some of my friends talent in the special effect trade. Once I have the site finished and all of his current images uploaded it should show off different images every time the page is loaded.

Other things I have planned out for this is a project tracker (to allow him to arrange his images into projects he's worked on), and within the project tracker a custom photo gallery.

Oasis Gaming Web Reports

Oasis Gaming Web Reports

This is the main web page for the Oasis Web Reports website. This website is for Oasis' clients only and it allows them to gather all sorts of information conerning the gaming machines that they have purchased from Oasis.

As you can see in the image, there is a bar menu and a smaller vertical, plain text link menu. When I started working at Oasis, the only menu system they had for these web pages was the plain text link. Although that menu system did it's job it did make it a bit difficult, once you got four or five pages in, to easily go back to a previous page because the menus could change with every page you visited.

I first approached my supervisor with the idea of creating a CSS driven drop-down menu system but they didn't think it would work too well. Initially I let that stop but the more I thought about it the more I decided that it would work and it would be a lot better. So I created a small example CSS drop-down menu to show to my supervisor that it could be done. He was impressed and told me to go ahead and create the menu system.

In the second image you can see how far the drop-down menu system goes. Even though I had created this menu system, my supervisor wanted to continue to keep the old plain text menu links.

Oasis Gaming Corporate Website

Oasis Gaming Corporate Website

This is the main page for the existing Oasis Gaming corporate website. It's quite dated and actually, not the most user friendly site and it is rather small in physical size on a screen.

After I was given control over the development and maintenance of the corporate site I found out that not very many people in the company really liked it. So I set about to redesign it. After talking to my supervisor and a couple of others I decided that something simple would be the way to go. Below is a screen shot of the main page of the new design that was approved.

I went through several versions of this layout, each one slightly more different than the previous. Finally this latest one was the one that most seemed to like. This newest design would be live now except that my superiors felt that the information from the current site isn't really very up-to-date or even correct on some of the pages and so they didn't want this to go live until they gave me better information. I'm still waiting! I remind them every now and then but they just keep telling me that they're working on it.

Below are a couple more images. The first shows the current contact page of the website and the second shows my new design. I decided that they needed a form to allow people to easily request more information. The form has some standard checks on it for things like required fields and that email addresses are at least of the proper form.
